We believe that physical education, sport and physical activity play a vital role in helping children flourish both as individuals and as members of a caring community. Through PE and sport, pupils learn that success is not solely measured by outcomes or achievements, but by how we support, encourage and inspire one another along the way.

Our PE curriculum and wider sporting opportunities are underpinned by our core values of Compassion, Courage, Community and Curiosity.

Compassion

We encourage pupils to demonstrate kindness, respect and empathy through sport. Whether supporting teammates, showing encouragement to others or displaying excellent sportsmanship in competition, children learn the importance of doing all things in love.

Courage

Physical education provides opportunities for children to challenge themselves, take risks and develop resilience. We encourage pupils to show courage by trying new activities, persevering when faced with difficulty and embracing opportunities to grow and improve.

Community

Our vision reminds us that we are stronger together. Through teamwork, leadership and participation in sporting events, children develop a sense of belonging and responsibility towards one another. We celebrate collective success and learn how individual contributions strengthen our whole school community.

Curiosity

We inspire pupils to explore new sports, skills and experiences with enthusiasm and an open mind. By providing a broad range of opportunities, we encourage children to discover their talents, develop new interests and build a lifelong enjoyment of physical activity.

Inspire+

At Great Ponton CE Primary School, we are proud to work in partnership with Inspire+, a Lincolnshire-based charity that uses sport, healthy lifestyles and leadership opportunities to inspire young people to achieve their potential. Through our partnership with Inspire+, pupils benefit from a wide range of opportunities that enhance physical education, wellbeing and personal development. These include specialist coaching, leadership training for Sports Ambassadors, participation in sporting festivals and competitions, staff professional development and inspirational visits from elite athletes. Inspire+ supports our vision of "I am strong because we are strong" by helping children to develop confidence, resilience and teamwork while living out our values of Compassion, Courage, Community and Curiosity. Through these experiences, our pupils are encouraged to challenge themselves, support others and flourish together both on and off the sports field.
