All members of staff, including governors, accept responsibility for ‘socially disadvantaged’ pupils and are committed to meeting their pastoral, social and academic needs within the school environment.

Great Ponton CE School is committed to ‘Narrowing the Gap’ between vulnerable pupils and their peers to ensure achievement for all. The report attached below exemplifies the full range of strategies the school employs to support all children in fulfilling their potential.

Principles

Great Ponton CE School ensures that teaching and learning opportunities meet the needs of all of its pupils.

We ensure that appropriate provision is made for pupils who belong to vulnerable groups; this includes ensuring that the needs of socially disadvantaged pupils are adequately addressed.

In making provision for vulnerable pupils (VP), we recognise that not all pupils who receive free school meals will be socially disadvantaged.

We also recognise that not all pupils who are socially disadvantaged are registered or qualify for free school meals. We reserve the right to allocate the Pupil Premium funding to support any pupil or groups of pupils the school has legitimately identified as being socially disadvantaged.
