Welcome to EYFS! We hope you have all had a wonderful summer and are looking forward to starting your journey through Primary School. Reception is a very special and important year and I can’t wait to see the children grow and progress throughout our time together. Here on our class page, you will find out about what we are doing in class as well as useful information and documents.
We have a new topic each half term. Lots of our learning is linked to this topic, below you will find the overview of our learning for the current topic.
Autumn 1: All About Me
Autumn 2: Once Upon a Time
Spring 1: Jurassic World
Spring 2: Space
Summer 1: Superheroes
Summer 2: Under the Sea
Our class PE days are Tuesday and Thursday. The children are to come to school in their PE kits.
Homework in our class will begin from Tuesday 14th September. Homework in EYFS will be set out in the form of a grid of activities that is set at the beginning of each half term. These activities will relate to our topic and the key areas of learning. We ask that one starred (*) activity of your choice is completed each week. Depending on the activity, this can be handed in through photos and/or a description on Dojo or the children can complete the activity in their homework book and bring this into school. An activity is expected to be handed in by every Monday. We aim to make these activities as practical, creative and hands on as possible!
Phonics homework will also be set each week. The purpose of this is to consolidate the knowledge and sounds the children have learnt in class. Phonics homework is expected to be completed in the children’s homework book each week. This will be set every Tuesday and is expected in every Monday.
We will also begin to send home reading books on Tuesday 14th September. All children will start with picture books. We encourage you to look through these with your child and talk about what is happening on each page as well as what they think might happen next! The children can then bring their books into school when they are finished and they will be changed. Books can be brought in and changed on any day and as often as required. We do ask that the children read at least 3 times a week.
Below, you will find some useful documents which may provide some helpful information.
