Welcome back.  I hope you have all had a lovely summer and are all ready to start your journey through school. This term is all about settling into school for your children and learning the routines of school.

Supporting your child at home:

Reading stories with your child,Practising writing their names,Practising formation of letters,Counting activities and number recognition.

This term’s topic is ‘Once Upon a Time’.

Please see attachment below to see what fun and exciting things we will be doing this term.

Welcome everyone it’s great to have such a brilliant new group of Reception children joining us this year. We’ve all had a busy and exciting start to our term, and I think some of us are already feeling a little tired from the lovely things we’ve been doing at school! The children have settled in amazingly and we will be beginning phonics, maths and lots more adult-led activities. The first week and a half has been used as an opportunity for the children to become familiar with our classroom and school environment which Mrs Carter and I feel they have adapted to amazingly.

The first sound we will be learning in Phonics is ‘m’ (mmmm) and children will be bringing home their new sounds to practice in their red homework books so please keep checking! The topic we are looking at this term is ‘All About Me’ and the children will be exploring the topic in a variety of ways and through various activities which can be seen on the planning map for this term.

Thank you to all those who attended the EYFS welcome meeting and phonics workshop, it was lovely to meet everyone together and give us all a chance to talk about how the children are settling in and how the phonics will be taught. As mentioned at the welcome meeting can parents please ensure children have waterproofs, wellies and spare clothes as we will be doing lots of outdoor learning this year. Keep checking back for updates and enjoy some of the pictures of the children in their first weeks of term!
